All Star Baseball!!! Whoop Whoop!!

Topher has been given the opportunity to play with the Walker County 9 year old All Star team this summer.  I know what you are thinking, Topher is 10, and you are right, but to Dizzy Dean he is a 9 year old, BY 5 DAYS!!  So this is pretty cool for him, and for us, although after playing/sitting through two days of over 100 degree weather, the better classification would be HOT!!

During the regular season, Topher usually played pitcher or short stop, with some occasional outfield time and he caught maybe two games.  Well, he has been playing catcher for his ALL STAR team.  He is pretty good at it, if I do say so myself.  Of course, it probably comes natural, as his Daddy was a catcher in his younger years.  Topher has gotten pretty good at getting dirty behind the plate, blocking the ball, and throwing down to second.  His team won their area tournament, and are currently playing in the state tournament in Albertville, where it has been HOT and DRY!!!

The team is in the losers bracket at this time.  We got there by loosing to a team we beat twice already!!!  I was so sad for our team when they lost.  They were winning 6-1 in the last inning.  They should of won, could have won, would have won.  Yes, shoulda, coulda, woulda gets you in the losers bracket!!!  But they are battling.  They are in the top four teams in the state at this time.  Tomorrow will tell the tale of whether or not we get another chance at the championship!!  Will let you know : )

Basketball Workouts & the Urologist???

Jakob made the 7th grade basketball team at Lupton for next school year.  As such, he has 10 days to workout with the coach and the team.  He LOVES it.  First day, workout from 8-10, home for a shower, out to shoot basketball on the drive.  Day two, workout from 8-10, home for a shower, out to shoot basketball on the drive.  Day three, workout from 8-10, home for a shower, out to shoot basketball on the drive.  One week down, and I just know he is going to get tierd of shooting basketball after practice.

Week two, day one, workout from 8-10, home for a shower, out to shoot baksetball on the drive!!!!!  Yep, he is obsessed.  Read a t-shirt today that said, "Obsession is just the word lazy people use for dedication."  That was Jakob, dedicated!!!

Week two, day two, Jakob wakes up, he can not run without hurting.  Call your Dad I say.  Go to the doctor he says.  Go to Children's Hospital to see a urologist says the doctor.  Come home for 48 hours of bed rest, and two weeks of no activity says the urologist!!!!!  WHAT?!?!?!?!

48 hours, and just as many video game hours later, "Can I go to practice" Jakob says.  What did I tell you - dedicated!!  He did go, but just to watch, and try to learn the plays.  Two weeks down, and he was back at practice, going just as strong as he did before.  Love that guy!!!

High Fives and Sleepovers

It has been the week of sleepover's at our house.  Last Friday night, the cousins, Haleigh and Abby, went bowling with us in Vestavia.  We signed up for the Kids Bowl Free program at the bowling center, and so we were off for an adventure.  Topher entertained the girls on the ride over to Birmingham, as he was sitting between the two of them.  He was a trooper :)  I only watched the kids bowl, but had the best time watching them all.  Sweet little Abby kept giving everyone high fives after they bowled, saying good job, even though they often threw gutter balls.  Our after bowling experience included a stop at Yogurt Mountain, and singing on the ride home.

The girls stayed the night with us for the first time.  There was a moment of doubt for Abby, so we took the short trip home, only for her to come back with Papa after a little talk.  We stayed up to watch movies, and all fell asleep in the living room.  That is a ritual with the boys and myself during the summer, but it was fun to share with the girls.

As soon as I can figure out how to post pictures in a post, I will upload some fun photos from bowling!!

Our next visitor was a friend of Topher's from school. Ethan stayed two nights with us, going to worship and eating with family after services. Topher and Ethan hung out with me at the school while Jakob had a basketball workout Monday. They entertained themselves by playing baseball in my empty classroom. Luckily the principal was understanding, as we share a wall : )

Tuesday night brought us Caleb. He is a friend of both the boys. Another night of board games, video games, and movies. Not just watching movies, but making one too. These guys dressed up in old Halloween costumes, and I videoed their "scary" movie!! These guys were too funny!! Remind me to show you the video one day!!!

A New BLOG :)

So here it is!! The beginning, again. Trying to start the summer with a few changes. Deleting my FB, and starting this blog to share our adventures with family and friends.

We have been out of school for a week now, and every time my sweet Jakob asks me how my summer is going so far, all I have to say is AWESOME!!!!!

We took an overnight trip to Chattanooga, TN on Tuesday. Started the night up there with supper at Red Lobster. The guys all had snow crab legs, and I had the shrimp platter. Luckily they shared a few bites with me, and the bottomless pit (aka Jakob) finished off my pasta. After a swim at the hotel, the boys spent about an hour goofing off with friends by text and face time (have to love some free hotel WiFi), while Skoot and I tried to watch the Hatfield and McCoy series.

Wednesday morning we got up early to take Skoot down the road to work. After breakfast at the hotel, we headed off to Rock City on top of Lookout Mountain. Both boys have been once before, but Topher did not remember any of it. They LOVED Rock City, and I was so glad I had the opportunity to share the experience with them. I LOVED it too as a child.

After a short trip to the mall, we picked up Skoot, and headed back up the mountain to Ruby Falls. Again, the boys LOVED it!!! This short trip was a great way to end the month of May, and start our summer break.

June will find us at the baseball field with Topher, as he plays on a Dizzy Dean All Star team. We will also be at Lupton with Jakob, as he goes through summer workouts with the basketball team. Yep, my baby is going in to 7th grade, and made the team!!! Planning a few things for July, but nothing concrete. Looking forward to sharing our adventures.

I will try to add pictures soon.  KW
